NTERESTING NEWS CONCERNING THE OLYMPIC PENINSULA
Did you know that the Olympic Peninsula is "booming", real estate-wise?Also, did you know that in 1864 Port Angeles was designated by President Lincoln's cabinet to become the Capital of the United States in the event the South won the Civil War?
Both of the above are true. I learned these truths on 13 April 2006 while attending my monthly Washington Society of Professional Engineers dinner meeting. Our speaker was James Wengle PLS, member and past president of the Land Surveyor's Association of Washington State. Prior to dinner Jim indicated to me that his Port Angeles surveying company had recently surveyed over 400 parcels of land, that prices were soaring and his buisness was booming.
Prior to this revelation I had been of the belief that due to the long term down trend in the fishing and logging industries, the whole Olympic Peninsula was an economically depressed area.
